Asphalt extraction and recovery are vital to the quality control of asphalt paving mixtures, particularly for recycling projects.
EnSolv-EX was developed as an environmentally friendlier and safer alternative to Trichloroethylene (TCE) and Methylene Chloride, the primary solvents used for asphalt extraction and recovery.
EnSolv-EX is as effective or better than these commonly used extraction solvents, but is non-chlorinated, non-carcinogenic, non-hazardous, non-regulated and non-flammable.
EnSolv-EX is a stabilized n-Propyl Bromide (nPB) designed to remove Bitumen from Bituminous paving mixtures. It is approved for use in Asphalt Extraction (ASTM D 2172), Recovery of Asphalt (ASTM D 5404) and was approved in June 2005 by AASHTO for its combined extraction and recovery methods (AASHTO TP2-94).
